Margaret Bertrand has now been painting full time for over ten years. Her work has been exhibited and sold in San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay and in the San Francisco Bay area. She has studied painting with noted San Luis Obispo county artists as well as San Francisco artists.
Whether encaustic or acrylic painting, Margaret’s work teams with wild color and an enthusiasm for her craft. While her work is abstract, one can see in it the forms of the natural world: trees, ocean and creatures.
Bob Dodge has drawn since childhood, learning informally from his professional artist father, and has been painting full time since 1990. He has studied with numerous established artists, both locally and in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has painted in oils, acrylics, and encaustics, often incorporating collage. He has painted mostly landscapes, seascapes, and abstracts. His work has been selected for exhibition by prominent jurors and exhibited in galleries and art centers up and down the Pacific coast, in Texas, and in Illinois, and is held in private collections from Nice, France to Tokyo, Japan
When working from nature, Bob tries to see with an innocent eye, not imposing his acquired knowledge of the subject, but responding to what is before him at the moment. “More than once, I have discovered something in one of my paintings that I hadn’t recognized when I was painting it.” His non-representational works are “expeditions undertaken without a known destination, let alone a road map”.
Both are members of International Encaustic Artists; San Luis Obispo Art Center Oil, Pastel and Acrylic Group (OPAG); Central Coast Printmakers; Morro Bay Art Association; and ArtsObispo, where they participate in Open Studios art tour locally each October.
